This is a house in a quiet area about 15mins away from the center of Kralendijk by car. The sea is accessibly with a 2 minute car ride or a 15 minute walk.
It consists of:
-main house (3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom with warm water, 1 bathroom with ONLY COLD water, 1 separate toilet, living room, fully functional -but rather old- kitchen)
-guest house (not included in the rent unless you book it explicitly)
-some sort of garage (not included in the rent)
-a terrace and garden
-most windows do not have glass but have mosquito nets and wooden shutters
-more than enough towels
-beds are not made on arrival but you are given 1 set of bedding per person for a 1 person bed
Overall I would say:
-very nicely cleaned
-well maintained pool
-spacious terrace and living room
-friendly and quick person to help you locally
TO BE IMPROVED:
-1 bathroom (the one that is en-suite to the main bedroom) only has cold water (I’m not kidding, I asked)
-the airco in 1 bedroom is very noisy and the filters of all aircos need cleaning (you can actually see they are clogged)
-You will be presented with an electricity bill after your stay if you exceed the included amount of electricity. Although I understand this is part of environmental encouragement towards the consumer, the lack of transparency bothered me: The amount that is included is said to be enough for “normal consumption” but it was not enough to run 2 airco’s + you are not able to verify the meters at arrival or departure. We ended up paying about 15 euro/pay surcharge which I think will be average since I genuinely don’t think we used unusual amounts of electricity (lights off most of the time, 2 aircos at 22 degree celsius).
-some new bedding wouldnt hurt and perhaps maybe even splash out and provide enough of it to allow two singles to both sleep in a double bed (2 people means you get bedding for 2 single beds).
Overall: quite a pleasant experience (especially the outside is beautifully done) and i would recommend it, but be aware of a couple of silly inconveniences like only cold water in the en-suite bathroom, additional costs for electricity and the limited amount of bedding.
