                    Recent Long Island Reviews

Amazing property that exceeded our expectations

                    5 of 5
Can't say enough about our wonderful stay at Bay Watch Cottage. The property was everything we could have hoped for and more. Lovely interior and décor, all the necessary amenities and a knockout view of the bay and the privacy of our own little cove and dock to watch sunsets, have morning coffee and swim from. Owners were welcoming and wonderful and nearby for assistance if needed, was terrific for all info about the island. Property is really nicely located very near a well-stocked market that had pretty much everything you needed, a convenient liquor store, gas station nearby and a farmer's market on Saturday mornings. Also, the location on the property is in the middle of the island so it was easy to get to the North part of the island as well as head South. Great restaurant about 5 miles from the cottage in Chez Pierre. Cross between French, Italian and a dash of Caribbean thrown in. You HAVE to make reservations and Don't show up late (or too early). Cape Santa Maria resort was also a nice stop for a meal and we were able to use the beach there as well. Gorgeous beach, stunning with warm, amazing blue water and sand that feels like baby powder on your toes. Dean's Blue Hole is a must see. Great place for snorkeling, especially around the perimeter of the blue hole where the ledge is. The island is an outer island so it is remote and doesn't have a real center, but if you are in the mode of adventure, beautiful seascapes, secluded beaches that you can have all to yourself, wonderful snorkeling, and a lot of rest and relaxing, this property and island is the right fit. But most of all, the people of Long Island are truly wonderful, gracious and genuine people. The island is safe, welcoming and everyone is friendly and helpful. Have been to many other islands where the islanders are nice to you to your face, but then you get the feeling they are talking about you behind your back. Not the case on Long Island. Never a worry for safety and again, the people were lovely--with no exceptions. Lastly, don't forget to bring your bug spray. You will need it for sure!

                    Private Pilots' Paradise

                    5 of 5
The Bahamas are renown to be among private pilots’ favorite, island-hoping destinations. And if your goal is to fly away from the more touristic spots don’t look any further than Greg Lambert’s home on Rum Cay! We made a last minute trip in mid-August to The Bahamas from South Florida with a 172 looking for some peace and quiet in the out islands. We were very lucky to find Mr. Lambert’s home in Rum Cay. Not only did Mr. Lambert’s answered our query within the hour but he also offered us an AOPA discount. Mr. Lambert’s home is a dream cottage fully furnished that leads to a pristine private beach. The scenery is spectacular during the day with the clear and turquoise waters and fine white sand, while at nighttime stars litter the sky. We spent two nights on this paradise island wishing for a longer stay. Rum Cay was badly hit by Hurricane Joaquin in 2015 yet the island is rebuilding strong and hasn’t lost any of its charm. Fella, the home caretaker came to pick us up at the airport and helped us settle in Mr. Lambert’s home. Fella was a lovely and friendly character—just like all of the people we met on the island—and took us on a tour punctuated with fun and interesting facts about the island. While there, make sure to visit the Sand Bar for a fresh drink and home made conch fritters. We certainly can’t wait to make our way back to Mr. Lambert’s in Rum Cay!

Relaxing Vacation on a Quiet beach

                    5 of 5
We stayed here for 2 weeks and were able to unplug with no worries! There are a few other homes in the general area but the beach is so large we went most days without seeing another person. There is plenty of beach to explore here and throughout the island. The house was equipped with everything we needed including an outdoor charcoal grill. And our hosts were wonderful and full of information. The island is large so it was great to have someone who could tell us where everything was. Islanders know where everything is so there weren't alot of signs. The porch on the cottage was perfect for dinner at night and evening games. We didn't need the air conditioning as the winds cooled off the house since it was built up a flight of stairs. My husband used the kayak every morning and explored the cays off our our beach. Definitely a place to unwind from the hectic way of life at home!
