My best friend and I stayed one week in Sandy Palms and had a really good experience. Peter (owner) is a really funny man who doubles as a island guide, he booked a full-day tour for us to see the swimming pigs, thunderball grotto etc. in which he got us a really good deal. He was always available if we had any questions from where to eat, where to buy our groceries to even beer recommendations! Betty (Owner and Peter's wife who we didn't meet) was wonderful to deal with through emails, always prompt in replying to any inquiries we may have had. As for the property, the apartment is small but well kept with all the kitchen basics you may need and most importantly it was clean. There wasn't anything more we could have asked for as the beach itself is steps away from the backyard. Hoopers bay is beautiful and empty of crowds, we found ourselves sharing it with 3 - 4 people at the most! Really wonderful, the turtle that swam by us in the bay was a treat. Make sure you visit Stocking Island on your visit, so much fun to swim with the rays. Shirley's at the fish fry is a must for some tasty food and only minutes away from Sandy Palms. Also if you book a car which I would recommend, (available through Peter or from airport) make sure you visit Coco Plum beach, we found a bunch of sand dollars at the sandbar which you could walk to (at lowtide) right from the beach! Overall, feel confident in staying at Sandy Palms and in relaxing at Hoopers Bay. It's a wonderful place to escape to especially if you come from a busy city (Toronto) like we do.
