What a gem. I am conflicted giving away such a special place as I want it all to myself, but Barbara deserves the review for keeping such a lovely hideaway. It’s a bumpy rural sand road (shared by neighboring houses) to the house. The house is very well maintained with all the modern amenities (dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, gas barbecue, new A/C units, etc). Kitchen was well stocked with cookware, but bring your own spices/condiments are none were present. Nice open kitchen/main room with a master bedroom (king bed) and a kids room (bunkbeds). You are right on the ocean with a private set of steps down to the waves. The beach is gorgeous – it’s the Atlantic so it can be rough. We only saw a couple of other people the whole time were there. Its about 15-20min drive to Governors Harbor. We ate most of our meals at the place as we love to cook. We ate a Tippy’s one night (it’s a 5 min drive) and it was good but very expensive. Food is very expensive in general on this island. Meat is a premium in cost. Vegetables were scarce, but it was off season. We rented a small SUV and were very glad to have it. Main road is pretty good (some tire eating potholes) but side roads require more clearance. Back home, I 4x4 and some of these roads required my driving skills. We saw sedans driven down and around the large potholed side roads, but I wouldn’t take my sedan down those roads. And the trees grow in so it will scratch up you vehicle – ours was already broken in (1,084,000km) and well scratched, which was prefect for us. There is a guest register in the house filled with places to visit and get groceries, so I won’t go into those details. Each day we visited a new, mostly deserted beach – each one gets top marks for being one of the best beach I have ever been on. And I have been on a lots of beautiful beaches! If you prefer cruise ships and crowds, and need people around to feel safe, then don’t go here. On the issue of safety, we felt very safe here. The locals rely of our dollar to keep them living there so they like tourists not like some places in Mexico where you can free uneasy about trusting locals. There is virtually no crime on this island. For the adventuresome types, don’t go here when I want to as I am going back. Barbara was wonderful to deal with. This vacation was a 12+ out of 10

                                Amazing Vacation

                                5 of 5
The house was perfect for our needs and the beach was breathtaking. I had my morning coffee on the beach every morning and wine every night. I think I saw 5 people on the beach the entire stay. Super secluded and the house had everything you need..beach toys, a BBQ, even umbrellas for rainy occasions. If you visit be sure to rent a car, you will need it to drive into town or do any activities on the island. Everything is farther than we realized. However, Barbara recommended a great company that gave us a little SUV. All and all we were very impressed and can't wait to go back. Barbara was really easy to work with and made everything so easy!

Super Clean, Comfortable and Delightful Owner

                                5 of 5
Came to this property with friends, (2 couples in our mid fifties to early 60s). This home was immaculate and the owner couldn't have been a better ambassador for the island. She met us at the property and made sure we knew about all the properties wonderful features. The home has a deck with a nice big grill, which we used for dinner, as eating out can be expensive. The washer and dryer are a nice touch as were the beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas and cooler that the owner provided and we used at the beach every day. We spent everyday checking out a different beach or two and found that 2 of our favorites are within 5 minutes of the house, Ten Bay and Pau Pau, both wonderful places to catch a sunset and see starfish, conch, sand dollars, small jelly fish and other "cool stuff" as the tide goes out! There is a "farmers market" a 1/4 mile from the house and you can get the most wonderful greens, vegetables, dressing, cheese, and on Tuesday and Friday, fresh baked breads and cinnamon rolls. Get there early, as the bread goes fast! It was so nice to come "home" each night after a day of exploring and have a clean shower, nice towels and sheets, a comfortable bed and even air conditioning if you needed it. The owner was such a great resource if we had any questions about places to visit, or how to get somewhere we had heard about, she hooked us up with a car rental even before we got to the island. She takes great pride in her property and the island and with good reason. What a great place to visit! What a gem of an owner!
