      Perfect in every way

      5 of 5
This is our third stay at Seahorse in three years, and we stay for 2-3 weeks each time. In fact, we were the second couple to stay here when it was opened in 2014...so my husband and I obviously love being here, for all of the reasons that other folks have described in their reviews and more. Hearing the surf, the wind rustling the Palmetto palms, the Bahamian mocking birds that sing so joyously and the two that come every morning to visit, the absolutely gorgeous grounds that we feel privileged to share, the incredible pink sand beach of Double Bay, the lovely shaded sitting/lounging/napping area just off the beach...and most of all, Kathy and Mark's welcoming presence, make for the most perfect getaway imaginable. The location makes it a great place from which to explore the island by car, make trips to Island Farms for fresh veggies and fruit (and homemade bread twice a week), go to either Governor's Harbour or Tarpum Bay for fresh fish, as well as to lay low for snorkeling, long beach walks (you can walk as far as 4 miles north from here) or a quick drive (less than 2 miles) over to Ten Bay on the Caribbean side. " Kathy and Mark are the most absolutely wonderful folks that you could ever hope to meet: welcoming, informative about all aspects of the island and island life, really good humored, and just plain great to spend time with. Their company is one of the things we most look forward to when we come. And yet, if you want your privacy, they are very respectful of it and will not initiate contact with you unless necessary for the running of the property. I've stayed on another property north of here and, although there was nothing wrong with it per se, it just couldn't compare to staying here. For me, Seahorse Cottage is the gold standard.
