                          Recent Cat Island Reviews

Amazing property and location! - Highly Recommended!!

                          5 of 5
We wanted to thank you for a wonderful stay at the Boathouse on Cat Island. The house has a wonderful location on what we thought was the best beach on the Island. The gorgeous beach at Pigeon Cay has sand like talcum powder and very calm seas even during windy days. The palapa provided us great comfort and sun protection and we ended up using it on many occasions. The location of the rental property is very nice being close to all things north and it’s north central location allowed us to venture south on the island just as easily. We found the market at Smith Bay to be the most well stocked and that was an easy and fun drive from the property. Also, venturing out back into Alligator Creek is a must. Though the bottom of the creek starts off just a bit soft, it quickly firms up to a nice firm sand base and you can walk and explore for literally miles through the creek system observing fish, turtles, baby sharks (don’t worry – they are afraid of you), bonefish, rays, etc. Bonefishing is excellent and you can find them off the heads of mangroves on either side of high tide. Wonderful area to fish and explore. The Atlantic beaches in the area are amazing as well. We especially enjoyed the beach about 1 mile south of the property. Go south on main road and take a left at the cell tower to the Atlantic. Gorgeous isolated endless pink beach with great snorkeling and fishing. The people of Cat are wonderful and we made many new friends up north at Pigeon Cay, Arthur’s Town, Bennett’s and Orange Creek. Orange Creek is a beautiful area. Don’t miss it. The house is very comfortable with all the conveniences you need for your trip. We especially enjoyed the open feel of the house with the breezes coming through. The deck and shower are wonderful. Leslie, Ned and everyone at the Pigeon Cay Beach Club were so helpful and friendly. It was nice to have them close by and Leslie helped us out a number of times. Thank you! We highly recommend the Boathouse and hopefully will be back to enjoy this beautiful area of Cat Island soon! We’ve been to numerous out islands and stayed at many places and the Boathouse and Cat Island are now very close to the top of our list! Thank you, Mark and Sarah! -Kevin and Kelly (Seattle, Wa)

                          Beautiful Sunsets

                          5 of 5
10 days of beautiful beaches and the most awesome sunsets. The peace and solitude was a welcoming time in our busy schedules. The house was everything and more than we expected from the photos on the internet. Thanks to Frank and Gabi for sharing such a beautiful and quiet place.

Superb in every way! Exceeded all expections. The BEST!

                          5 of 5
This rental exceeded expections with a spectacular location, extraordinarily helpful hosts, glorious beaches within walking distance, and an impeccable house. LOCATION: This house is sited in the northern part of Cat Island, which is more interesting than some of the other areas, featuring hills, lakes, creeks, and a wide choice of beaches on the east, north, and west sides of the island. From the high observation deck, one enjoys a spectacular, almost 360 degree view of this beautiful, pristine and varied landscape. There is almost no need for a map: one immediately gets a sense of where one is. Some of the surrounding islands, such as Eleuthera and Little San Salvador, are also visible. Feels like a National Park, it is so unspoiled. I have never seen anything like it in the Caribbean. THE HOSTS: Nick and Manette Cripps are the best, most thoughtful hosts one could possibly desire. So much so, that Casa Loma feels less like a rental, and more like one's own private resort. Cat Island is not commercialized, so its attractions are not immediately obvious or in some cases easily accessible, but Nick provides the perfect support. He picked us up at the airport, made his car available to us whenever he could, booked restaurant reservations and a one-day car rental, and provided us with crucial information for exploring Cat island. Few people must know it as well as he does: He's lived there for decades, seems to know everybody and everything worth knowing about it (its history, fauna, flora, whereabouts of the best secret beaches, etc). It was really wonderful to be introduced to people in the community, and begin to understand what life on the island might be like. Nick also has a great sense of humor and is a great snorkeling guide! THE BEACHES: The house comes with its own private beach, which is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. It unfurls almost as far as the eye can see, with not a single structure, lots of coral for beach snorkeling, and patches of pink sand. There are at least 4 other beaches in the near vicinity, all different from each other, and all amazing. THE COMMUNITY: The house is on Nick's wooded hilltop property, but one can walk to the elegant, small Shanna's Cove Resort, which serves what must be the best food for miles. Tail Wind's resort is there as well, so the house feels secluded but not isolated. THE HOUSE: New, high quality construction, and SOLAR! All in all, a most memorable experience!
