Ultimate Family Vacation

5 of 5
We had such an amazing time at the Williams' residence and at Nonsuch Bay. The house itself is well appointed and comfortable, and we made full use of the kitchen and had many meals at home. If this is your plan, best to stop at the large grocery on the island on your way in. Necole who was our greeter and housekeeper could not have been nicer and she did a great job in familiarizing us with the house and in keeping it up for us during our stay. Nonsuch Bay Resort is a fantastic place. The staff was so gracious and friendly, and our two younger children (ages 8 and 4) loved the resort's kids' club which offers an array of activities to keep them entertained with daily variety. If you plan to utilize the kids' club I would highly recommend that you call ahead and ask for Natasha who runs it. She is wonderful and will be of great assistance. My older son, age 9, enjoyed sailing and learned how to windsurf at the kite boarding school. My wife also challenged herself with learning how to both windsurf and kite surf, and as far as we can tell, the instruction is world class. I enjoyed the use of 5 different types of sailboats (I think they have 6 types total) and the place is really a sailor's paradise. If you don't know how to sail, they provide excellent instruction at the resort. Antigua as an island has lots to offer and next time we plan to see more of it. We went zip lining and spent a day at the beach on the Caribbean side as well, but mostly we just hung around the resort. We also went sport fishing with Captain Derek on the Obsession (which I would highly recommend) and grilled our catch of Wahoo and Mahi Mahi on the large grill at the house. The beach at the resort is not a "wow" beach but it is nice and there are palm trees to provide natural shade. And it is an excellent place to relax. According to the staff spear fishing is legal in Antigua so if you are into it bring your spear. There are tons of fish around the dock or a short boat ride out to the reef at Green Island (they provide free trips every other day). There is a very nice beach there as well. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful Quiet Antigua Island Home

5 of 5
Our group of 4 couples came together in Antigua from the U.S. to have some island fun. This villa was quite remote and located in a quiet area, but down the road from our favorite beach "Long Bay". If you want a lot of action and expecting high rise all inclusives, this is not your island, nor your island home. The villa was an "open air" style and the sea breeze was amazing. We never missed air-conditioning. The bedrooms, dressing area, showers were ALL huge. The style of this home was completely different than where we come from, as it was truly an Antiguan Island home. We hated having to come back. The Antiguan people were very friendly. We enjoyed being introduced to "French pressed" coffee. The pool was lovely and we used it several times every day. Mossy (the property manager) met us at the airport and she was amazing - we really enjoyed her and she assisted us with an issue with our car rental. We followed her to a grocery store, then off to the Long House. We were very comforted by Mossy's assistance, as we were a little apprehensive traveling to a different country. Mossy gave us a cell phone that we carried with us for the week. We did call her to get recommendations when we had a flat tire. She responded immediately and it was only a few dollars to get the tire fixed. We felt safe at all times at the villa. We were slightly challenged with driving on the left side of the road for the first couple of days. We did get lost across the island and the locals were very helpful in heading us in the right direction. The police officers were great and one escorted us to a road we were looking for. The island was very clean. We had a near perfect island adventure and I would definitely return to the same island and villa. I loved the cultural flair of this island. We loved a place called "Momma Pasta's" on Long Bay Beach. Loved the road side markets. English Harbor area was beautiful. Shirley Heights was great. Another item worth mentioning: we were very nervous about bank to bank wire transfer of funds. In our country we are used to paying with PayPal or Credit Cards. The transfer went smoothly. There are some canoes that you can take down the way for launching .... if we had a few more days we would have done that...we simply ran out of time. I would love to return and stay longer ... 1 week was not enough.
