We are a family of five from Anchorage that just wanted to get away and relax for a weekend. We stayed in November when the lake was frozen over. This was the first time my kids had seen a frozen lake and they loved playing on the frozen ice. Next time we will remember to bring the ice skates and ice spikes for shoes.
The villa was very comfortable and stocked with everything I forgot. .. LOL.. The beds were clean and comfortable. Views from the cabin were amazing but I did not catch the Northern Lights on this trip, though apparently you can see them from the windows when they are out. Other guests commented on this in the book inside the cabin.
A few things to note... This cabin is not quite in a remote area, there are other cabins, houses around. Didn't bother me a bit, just something to note. The fire ring, firewood and access to the lake including the canoe's and lifejackets are down a quite steep hill. The kids and I managed just fine but I would think that it could be a consideration for some people.
We loved staying here and did not want to leave. The kids are talking about returning soon and we would love to stay here in the summer time as well.
