The rustic farmhouse is about 15 minutes from town and is surrounded by beautiful scenery as far as you can see. If you like animals, this is the place for you! There are horses, goats, dogs, birds, squirrels, and even a pot bellied pig named "Yonkers!" My daughter and granddaughter got to feed the horses and play with the neighbor's dogs. The house is about a ten minute walk down the hill to the lake. My husband built a fire in the fire pit outside and one in the Franklin stove inside and it was a perfect place to celebrate a belated Christmas with my granddaughter. I cooked a huge brunch every morning and a delicious meal in the evening so it really felt like home! The king bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and we slept good every night except for the first night we were there. When we arrived at the house, it was about 8:00 PM, so it was dark and we couldn't see what was around us outside. During the night, we heard something on the roof and bumping noises underneath the house. We turned on all the outside lights, but we couldn't see anything. We thought someone was trying to break into the house. In the morning, I walked out to look around, and had no idea that the house is built on top of a stable! The noises that we heard below during the night were goats, a horse, and a pot bellied pig. The noises on the roof were squirrels I think. I was so relieved that the noises came from the animals and not an intruder! We didn't have any problems sleeping the rest of the trip. Sunset Bay was definitely the most unique place that I've ever stayed at and I would recommend it for a relaxing getaway.
