We traveled to Oahu with our teenager to stay at the Cottage by the Sea. Skye was very friendly and welcoming, showed us around, gave us some hot spots to visit, and then we never saw her again. The property is separated in a charming way with lots of trees, little paths, etc. so you have privacy and so does she. Property is gated and has security lighting. I loved the idea of opening all the windows for fresh air, but my husband is hot-natured so the a/c had to be turned on each night (position the standing fan at the doorway to the bedroom - helps a lot). If you’re going to leave towels and beach gear on the porch to dry overnight, be sure it’s all placed under the roof as it may rain overnight. There’s a convenient shower right by the entrance to the property to avoid tracking sand into the cottage. Cottage was large enough for three of us and adequately stocked with dishes, glasses, towels, etc.
Ono’s is close by for good local food (you know it’s good when most customers are locals!). Several good restaurants in Kailua but keep in mind that most places close by 9pm. Beach access is at the end of the short street.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Skye’s cottage and you will too. Just remember to respect her property as if it were your own. Mahalo Skye!
We loved staying on the North Shore here, although it definitely is a further drive when you want to go somewhere else. Beaches are definitely close by though along with food trucks and Foodland for groceries. It was a bit hard making food in this unit though, but we managed. The property manager is very nice and very responsive, although a bit loud at times (we could hear him yelling at his video games through the walls). It was very clean, has AC, had access to laundry, a lot of great channels on TV, and the private little yard is perfect, it’s just a tad rocky to swim in this location. I’d recommend this location more for people who don’t want to travel to other locations as often as we did. We were here for a week and were so glad we had a car to check out other spots, otherwise we would have been quite bored. But thank you for the lovely stay and we can’t wait to come back to the North Shore!
