Our stay at Kerri and Philippe's chalet could not have been better. It was an incredibly restful property in the woods, with wonderfully comfortable beds and thoughtful amenities that were far above the norm. We brought along a (tree-friendly) hammock and spent hours listening to the birds and wildlife in the woods behind the chalet. The neighbours in this chalet community were also super-friendly, frequently stopping to chat with us when we were out walking our dogs.
Chalet Finland is an ideal home base for exploring the virtually limitless biking and hiking trails in the area. Kerri was extremely helpful in suggesting trails in the area which we would enjoy. We would have missed out on so much, had we not asked her advice. We also brought our kayaks and spent many happy hours paddling in Parc National Mont-Orford.
When we rent properties, I always bring along a basket full of personal supplies that I can't live without: decent knives, a frying pan, a skillet, a cutting board, aluminum foil, parchment paper, sugar, salt, pepper, olive oil, vanilla, etc. This is the first time EVER that I did not even unpack this basket. This chalet truly had everything we needed! I agree with a previous reviewer's statement: just bring spices and you're good to go!
When we saw the tempertures rising for our week at the chalet, we were concerned that we might be too hot in this non-airconditioned property. However, the chalet stayed magically cool, especially on the main floor. This is likely because of the tree canopy shielding the chalet from the sun. Opening the windows at night provided all the coolness we needed, although each room is does have a fan, just in case.
Chalet Finland was a truly special property, and Kerri and Philippe are exceptional hosts.
