Perfect house for a group vacation! It's exactly as pictured, and very spacious with 6 bedrooms upstairs (all but one have ensuite washrooms), 3 living rooms and laundry on the main floor and another living room, a dining room and a kitchen on the ground level, opening to the back patio. We had 8 adults plus kids and never felt crowded! Beautiful kitchen is equipped with high-end appliances and the basic gear, and attentive hosts are on hand to provide anything else required on request. Lots of towels provided too, both the bathroom and pool variety. Thoughtful touches, like hallway lights on timers, make the house very low maintenance. The pool is beautiful, and there's lots of outdoor furniture to enjoy. Bonus is the property, which includes a wooded area that's great for exploring, as well as many fruit trees (we harvested the bounty to use in our cooking!) Amazing views of the Moorish Castle and Pena Palace in the hills, and about 10-minutes (steep) walking from the National Palace, shops, and restaurants. Only thing to note is the address itself - it's private and quiet, but a bit challenging to find. Part of the approach is a bumpy, unpaved road and all the one-way streets in Sintra mean that missing a turn can send you on a 15-minute loop around the town. We had pretty good luck with Uber, and eventually got the hang of directions after about a week of practice! Overall, we would consider a car rental optional. Sintra deserves more than a day-trip and we highly recommend this lovely spot for a relaxing vacation.
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay at this classic Portuguese country home in the Sintra area just a short drive from Lisbon. Bruna and her husband were gracious hosts. This is a restored farm house with associated working farm and one of the things that attracted us to it was the opportunities for our daughter, aged 7, to interact with the animals. She loved it! There is also a pool. a tree fort and a trampoline, as referenced in the listing. We had a truly wonderful experience and it is delightfully rustic, but also full of books and very tastefully decorated. Just being there, preparing meals and enjoying the views was great, but we also visited the nearby Sintra park and palace. We had several lively games on the foosball table and cooked some delicious steaks on their outdoor woodfire grill. We hope to return someday and stay longer. This is a special place! Many thanks to Bruna and her husband for making us feel some welcome!
