This was a private, romantic, beautifully decorated gite. There was a large fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook if you choose (and we did!). The door from the kitchen leads to a stone patio with a near view of a lovely garden and a far view of a beautiful valley of rolling French farms and countryside terminating in the French Alps in the distance. We spent a lot of time on the patio at all hours of the day and evening as the light was constantly changing. The bedroom and bathroom were luxurious. The bath had a large tub with endless hot water, beautifully colored blue tile, double sinks, a huge mirror. Joelle even furnished bathrobes. The bedroom had a very comfortable king size bed and sunny windows with lots of large plants outside for privacy. There was access to a shared clothesline and a great little washing machine in the kitchen. There was a shaded patio at the entrance to the gate with comfortable chairs for reading. Walks down the country road in the area were beautiful with wild spaces, vineyards and other French country estates. Pierrevert is a sweet small town where you can find anything you might need. There is a particularly wonderful boulangerie/patisserie at the rotary before you head up to the town. The croissants there were the best we had in France, and you can sit down for breakfast or lunch. The gite is well located for short day trips to other towns and markets. We only traveled away from the gite on one day to Loumarin which was a lovely drive culminating in a very lively market day. Our host was especially wonderful! She brought us the sweetest melon to eat the first evening, as well as leaving gifts of wine and jellies. She brought fresh strawberries on another day, helped us with the washing machine, suggested a very good restaurant in a nearby town which we enjoyed immensely, and helped with booking a reservation to another restaurant. This was our favorite place out of the four we booked for our 3 1/2 week trip to France. We highly recommend La Reserve!
This property is spectacular and Mme Egea has paid attention to all the little details that make a place special. The town is lovely, the lake is amazing. And yes, this is truly the view from the giant French doors in the living room. There are two bedrooms on the lower level that stay nice and cool even when it is hot outside. A large, beautiful open living room/dining room on the second floor and an adorable loft for sitting and reading - or drying laundry (because yes there is a washing machine). Mme Egea provides special little touches to make you feel so welcome when you arrive (a bottle of wine, some local specialties). And the location can't be beat. It's close to the Gorges du Verdon without the mobbed crowds. You can rent electric boats, paddle boats or canoes and wander around the lake; there's hiking and sunbathing and swimming. We certainly plan to be back!
