The B&B has a welcoming Polynesian feel to it, along with a variety of trees, flowers, and birds on property. It is conveniently located near many of the best Koloa/Poipu attractions. The breakfast was hearty and delicious!
The Poipu B&B is out of the main resort area, a traditional-looking Hawaiian house on a relatively quiet street; quite a bit of pedestrian traffic. Four minute walk to a mall that includes great dining (including Merriman's), short drive to the resort areas east and west on the coast, to historic Koloa Town, or McBryde National Tropical Botanical Garden. We had the misfortune to visit during a rainy period, but the silver lining of this cloud was that the living area of this inn is very accommodating, with comfortable armchairs indoors and lanais (front and back) inviting interaction with other guests. We felt completely at home.
The bedroom is paneled (walls and ceiling) in sand-blasted redwood, a fascinating texture visible in photos. The bed is very comfortable (except: watch out for its corner feet if you're making you way to the bathroom in the dark). The bathroom is large and includes a large jacuzzi--a negative is the large windows which would be great overlooking a landscape but instead expose the bather to the condo next door, unless one crosses the jacuzzi to put down the shades - I would have preferred translucent windows or café curtains. For the owner's sake I hope the plants outside the window grow rapidly to hide that view.
The breakfast (served on the lanai) is modest but excellent.
We would definitely return to the Poipu B&B on another visit to Poipu.
