If your intention in Portsmouth is to visit the historic dockyards, this is the place. Clean, spacious and exactly as advertised, it's located only a couple of blocks from the train station, the bus station and the passenger ferry to The Isle of Wight. There are restaurants across the street, and a good grocery store in the same building. Nothing could be more convenient. Everything went exceptionally smoothly, and we have nothing but praise.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Queens Gate, the view over the harbor is fantastic. The place is spacious, well stocked, and the gifts left for us on arrival were very much appreciated. It's well set up for guests with quick Wi-Fi info on hand, USB chargers in the kitchen, coffee, tea and staple items.
The location was perfect for access to shops, food, and seaside attractions, we parked up and walked everywhere. Highlights were the hovercraft to the Isle of Wight, Spinnaker Tower, and breakfast at Southsea Beach Cafe.
Parking during a busy time could be difficult as the Southsea Commons area is very popular for games and barbecues, but a welcome tradeoff for the location and looking out over all that activity.
Jane and Jo were both very easy to work with when booking, arriving and checking out, answering all my questions promptly and making sure we were all set.
Overall a great experience from start to finish, and a lovely few days in Portsmouth to start the holiday.
