Once again, Joanne and Paul were the perfect hosts. We love staying in their cabin on Ilesford! It gives Chris and I a chance to unwind, relax, and unplug in the serenity of the wonderful outdoors, whether it is on the island, or in Acadia. We never run out of things to do, and we will keep coming back! Both Joanne and Paul are so welcoming and their cottage has everything you need..... even things you do not think of. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by both Joanne and Paul. As Joanne showed us around the cabin, we saw a wonderful goodie basket with local items: locally made artisan soaps, homemade trail mix, Joanne's own jam and granola, and even Maine maple syrup! These personal touches made us feel right at home. We loved it. The kitchen is stocked for cooking if we should want to! The living room has a bookshelf of park guides, books and brochures for adventure ideas for both the island and the mainland. We never ran out of ideas (just time!) of things to do. Both Joanne and Paul were always a text away if we needed anything or if we needed a suggestion on an activity we thought to do. This level of communication was so great. We knew if we needed anything or had any question, Joanne was sure to answer right away. Additionally, the cabin has a wonderful front porch and we loved sitting out there at night to take in the quiet sounds of the island. Joanne was so gracious that she had breakfast goodies waiting for us each morning! Knowing that Chris and I are cyclists, we felt properly fueled by the homemade overnight oats, muffins and breakfast smoothies! Joanne made sure that the breakfast snacks were ready before we caught the boat over to the mainland to bicycle or hike for the day. She also made us a rock keepsake that now is prominently displayed in my indoor 'forrest' at home. Paul even provided Chris with lobster one evening! We were sad to leave but really and truly look forward to returning next summer. Joanne and Paul were the best hosts. Thank you Joanne and Paul!
