Stephanie's place was an excellent base for exploring the Southern Nicoyan Peninsula. I loved the organic aesthetic of the home and how efficient the use of space was. The sliding barn doors really opened the home up to the outside and gave it more livable space. The outdoor shower was a refreshing way to get all the salt and sand off after a beach adventure. The functional kitchen was much appreciated and we cooked several of our meals there. The home is conveniently located in walking distance to restaurants, a small grocery store, a bakery, a bar, a brewery and the ocean. The town of Cabuya has a very laid back vibe and is much less touristy than the surrounding towns of Santa Teresa, Mal Pais, and Montezuma. You are still within a short drive of what all of those towns have to offer but we found there was actually a lot to do around Cabuya. We hiked in the national park, cooled off in a river, relaxed at an excellent sandy beach on the outskirts of town, and ate at several good restaurants. We had a great time and can't wait to get back.
