We had a lovely stay at Villa Gerosi. It is located in a rural position between Modica and Ragusa. Perfect for visiting the beautiful Baroque towns in the area. The villa has great views over the surrounding countryside and is away from any close neighbours. The grounds and pool are extensive. There are plenty of seating areas in both the shade and the sun. Nice and clean and well furnished. Four of us (two couples) stayed and we had plenty of room. There is a bedroom and bathroom downstairs and another 2,bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs so can easily accommodate 4 or 6 people. We were greeted by the owner (who does not speak English) but he was accompanied by Justine who does. We were easily able to contact Justine during our stay had there been any issues. There are a couple of minor points to be aware of. As previous reviewers have said the driveway to the villa is VERY narrow. We had a Citroen C2 and got up the drive without too much difficulty but anything wider would have been a problem. In the house the small kitchen has lots of crockery, cutlery and some pots and pans. But there is no kettle (which we found to be a nuisance) a tiny stand alone oven and no dishwasher. So if you are planning to cook at home be aware that you are limited by the lack of a proper oven and you’ll be washing up afterwards! This is a lovely property though and we were very happy to stay there.
As we entered the gate and drove down the tree lined driveway we approached the lady of the house. She greeted us with such warmth that we immediately felt welcome. First we drove around to the garage area where we had ample room to park our car. Then she led us to the courtyard that was so charming and I knew at once that we had picked the perfect place to stay. The charm and beauty of the exterior of the villa was also reflected when we got inside. The loft style suite was roomy and very clean, stocked with everything we could possibly need. We found the family to be so very outgoing, thoughtful and helpful yet very respectful of our privacy.
The purpose of our trip was to cycle in and around the Modica area, then flop by the pool in the late afternoons, followed by dining out on the delicious Sicilian food so readily available. This is exactly what we got, and more...
The day before we were to leave and go back to Naples, my sister was in a terrible cycling accident and had to spend a couple days in the hospital. I mention this only because the family went over and beyond to help and support us. Their kindness at that time is something I will never forget as it touched me so deeply that there actually are such good, kind people in this world! Other than the unfortunate event with my sister our stay in Modica was fabulous!
A few added points worth mentioning: the pool is exquisite, like being at a 5-star resort without the crowd! There is a wonderful little cafe/gelateria next door. Very quiet and tranquil atmosphere at the villa yet close to shopping, etc.
