Valeria is a great host, very friendly and responsive. The house is indeed right on the beach and is very well equipped. The restaurant next to the house is excellent and very cheap. Clear benefit from being away from touristy towns. There is however road noise behind the property.
We arrived by train from Rome and were able to get a taxi immediately to downtown Formia to pick up our rented van. The only negative comment is that we were not overly impressed with the staff from the management company. They spent a good deal of time explaining the separation and putting out of garbage, but not much else - though they did give us two bottles of wine in welcome. Shortly after they departed, we discovered that we did not have hot water, nor could we get the stove to light. I texted them immediately and not long after, the owner (who was very sweet and lived next door) came over and solved both problems very quickly and easily - just a matter of having the information - which should have come from the property manager. Once settled in we had a FANTASTIC 5 days visiting Gaeta, Montecassino, and villages in Avelino. The villa was away from the bustle of the beach and associated traffic and once you got down the mountain, the supermarket was not far. The refrigerator and freezer were ample size, which meant we could shop for more than one day. The property owner and his wife brought over plums and apricots from their garden which were delicious. We spent hours on the covered patio and the weather was perfect for our entire stay. The above ground pool was small, but perfect for lounging in the afternoon. We could watch fireworks being set off along the shore below each night. This was a family trip that included my dad - his first to Italy- and he was really not ready to leave at the end of our stay-- which says it all! He loved the peace and quiet and the ample space at the table for all of us. Our entire party loved this property and would stay again!
