Among the ruins of the ancient Cathars, you will find a retreat that transcends time. Nestled in the medieval village of Mirepoix is Le Tardis, a lovely home away from home. The house is warm and stylish where every need is met. You will find a well equipped kitchen in which to cook, a large table for gatherings, a lovely sitting room looking out onto gardens, and very comfortable beds in airy and well lit rooms with en-suites. A short walk to the centre square and you can indulge in market fare, local cuisine and artisanal shops. Minutes away there are hiking trails in the forest and bike rides to villages, castles and monasteries that will have you steeped in history. There is so much on offer at Le Tardis that you will forgo other trips to return to this wonderful place.
Our host Rob was wonderfully accommodating - when our flight arrival in Toulouse was delayed from 1 PM to 7 PM, he was nevertheless waiting patiently for us at the home for our 10 PM arrival - not knowing exactly when we would be there! The house itself was well equipped, and the combination of large kitchen and adjacent dining area was especially welcome, and heavily used.
The Languedoc is large, and so there is no location which is convenient to everything. Nevertheless, the little village of Plaigne became a fine base for many places we visited: Toulouse, Albi, Carcassone, Collioure, the Tarn gorges, and others.
Again, Rob's cheerfulness, openness, and detailed explanations of the workings of the house really made us feel especially welcome, and our group of 6 recommends this property without reservation.
