We selected this location because of its convenient access to many terrific sights and cities, and we selected this home because of its beauty in the photos provided by Michel. Both proved true.
Michel was an enthusiastic and helpful host. He greeted us at the house, provided staples (coffee, juice, butter, mustard, fruit, etc.) to get us started and was even so kind as to drive us into town and show us the best bakery, butcher, grocery store and winery in the area. He could not have been more kind- and he is truly proud of his gorgeous home, with good reason. The house wraps around gardens on two levels, with manicured lawns, an herb garden, numerous flowering trees and plants, and more patios and balconies and places to eat outside than there are days in the week. There is a sauna, an outside kitchen (as well as a well-stocked one indoors), a gorgeous pool, a koi pond and a waterfall! If the weather had been better, we would have lived outside for the whole visit.
The house has both gas and electric in the kitchen, loads of dishes, pans and glassware, 2 refrigerators, multiple bathrooms, plenty of towels and linens, rain showers and a tub big enough for four, and bedrooms with very comfy beds!
The house is an easy drive to Aix-en-Provence, Marseilles, and all the beautiful towns and sights in between. The drive from the Marseilles airport is only 1.5 hours and the area is loaded with wineries, fantastic hikes, great restaurants, ruins (Roman and otherwise), ancient churches, and dramatic massifs. The air is fragrant with jasmine, honeysuckle and Spanish broom, and the poppies bloom in profusion.
Whether you are looking for a house you never want to leave or a location that offers lots to do, this is the place for you!
House was large, very functional and clean. Pool was excellent and in good condition. Only minor minus was garden, which could use some tidying. Pizza oven and barbecue were in constant use in our stay. We also liked the location, it was very peaceful but Saint Maximin was very close with shops and good restaurants. Also discovering Province was easy, because there were lot of destinations at close distance. We have to advertise Marco's Pizza van that stood only 200 m away on a parking lot and provided excellent take away's
