Greetings, fellow travelers. Wanted to share a few thoughts about our recent trip to this lovely holiday home.
Firstly, the setting is absolute perfection. Wonderful views from every (really) window. So much fun to see the harbour change with the weather.
Well equipped in every way. We cooked roasts, grilled chicken and loved sitting at the table, both inside and out, to dine. Buy food at the big market (Super Saver?) just off the highway as you take the road to Peggy's Cove.
The house is creaky and the walls thin (we were four and found it charming). Beds comfortable.
Recycling system a little confusing but we figured it out. Extra blue bags and organic waste bags in pantry.
I drank the water from the tap. But they have a cooler and you can get bottled if you prefer. Rinsed our lettuce and vegetables from the tap.
Loved the walks nearby (go to the special place). We went all the way to the lighthouse. Also walked at Peggy's and Polly's Cove.
Would recommend a trip to Lunenburg. Very interesting.
Our weather was not so good, so we used the fire a lot after a wet walk and at night to liven our conversation.
If you make it to Halifax, our best meal out was Five Fisherman. Get the oysters with the best mignonette sauce we have ever had. Delicious fish!
This place is better than it looks in the pictures. We loved it and would be happy to return!
P.S. When I returned to the house one day and made the left turn to the lane to the house, I spied the lady next door, rolled my window down and waved hello. Unfortunately, trying to be friendly (we hadn't met) I cut the corner too sharply and my tire hit the small garden wall and popped the tire. Called Jeanne, and she let me know that AAA from America works with CAA (AAA in Canada). 45 minutes later my tire was changed! Jeanne also told me about Canadian Tire where I got the tire replaced. Thank you, Jeanne!
This property was incredible! It checked off all of our boxes, and even the boxes we didn't anticipate. I would definitely recommend this property to others, and I would stay there again next time I'm in the area.
