  • A Piece of Heaven

The star light on a clear night topped off our time at this house. The house was perfect. It had everything you could possibly need to make a stay in the mountains enjoyable. The location was great so a mixture of hiking and shopping was possible.

While not as remote as the lake pictures might indicate, the house and property are clean, well-maintained and have the right touch of amenities for a small family (or even a couple of small families.) We (family of four) stayed three nights over the President's Day extended weekend and the less-than-ideal weather notwithstanding, had a blast! We tried fishing - but it was a bit too cold - no doubt during warmer, non-rainy times, we'd've had success for sure. There are kayaks available, and again, not useful in winter, but surely a lot of fun in summer. We took advantage of the break in the rain on Saturday and drove back across the winding mountain road to Helen for a late lunch and stroll down Main Street. We sat out that night making s'mores at the fire pit overlooking the lake and just watched the near-full moon as it made its progress thru the night sky. We also brought board and card games to play and tried to keep the kids from spending too much time on electronics (minimal success). There're a couple of TVs and a pool table (family tournament results not available - lol) and a grill that would've been perfect for adding a cookout to our agenda (did I mention it is winter and it was also rainy?) All said and done, it was plenty of fun and we are looking at returning later in the year and can easily recommend this wonderful lakefront property to anyone wanting to just get away for a while.
