We used Bayeux as our base for a visit to the Normandy region, and spent 11 nights at the Liddells' townhouse. 8 Rue Laitiere is a wonderful location to enjoy all that Bayeux has to offer. It is ideally suited for a couple, with a small living room and kitchen/dining area downstairs and a bath and two bedrooms upstairs (one with a queen size bed and the other, a very small room with two twin beds). It also has a small dependency with a good-size washing machine, and, best of all, an electric dryer. Within a short walking distance is the cathedral, the Bayeux Tapestry, several museums, a small, well-stocked grocery, and numerous wonderful shops and restaurants. We especially enjoyed the house's small gravel courtyard/garden, the cathedral bells and the sound of the birds. Though centrally located, it is a very quiet and secure location. We have rented several houses in Europe for 7-10 day stays, and both agree that our visit to Bayeux and the ideally-located 8 Rue Laitiere made for one of our best trips.
