  • Cozy and comfortable

The apartment is small, but comfortable and very well equipped. It was a bit chilly at times (it IS January), but a wood-pellet burning stove heats things up and is rather pleasant. Hostess Yvonne was very helpful and welcoming. Finding a place to eat in Arriate in January was a real challenge. The two most promising places were closed, so we ended up picking up bread, cheese, and Iberian ham from the local baker and butcher. With a bottle of wine, it was very nice. Ronda is only a short drive away. The ruins of a Roman town are a half-hour drive in the other direction.

We had a wonderful stay at Gabriella's home in Arriate, and have vowed to return during fig season! As it was, we enjoyed pimientos and pomegranates from the garden, and the farmhouse served as both a convenient location from which to explore Ronda, Cueva de la Pileta, Grazalema, Acinipo, Roman ruins, etc., and as a tranquil oasis at the end of our busy days.
