Roberta and Tom's guest house was the perfect place for us to stay for 3 days of fun in NOLA. The little guest house was just right. We didn't plan to do a lot cooking; the restaurants are too good. But, we did warm up leftovers and make coffee in the morning. The kitchen is outfitted for more than that, with pots and pans and tools and utensils and dishes, etc. Unless you want to walk on Bourbon St. every night (once was enough for us), the Garden District is a perfect location. We were between the St. Charles streetcar and Magazine Street--a good location for restaurants, shopping, getting to the Quarter and Uptown. We recommend Saba for dinner, on Magazine St., and Dooky Chase for lunch, in Treme (both require reservations). Roberta had recommendations when we asked. On a rainy morning, we found two golf umbrellas outside our door because we had said we were going to the botanical gardens at City Park- a very thoughtful thing to do. And with the umbrellas, we had a memorable day in the gardens and the greenhouse. The best compliment and recommendation I can give: We found our New Orleans place to stay next time and every time.
