My mom and I had the pleasure of staying in this beautifully restored cottage. Michel was an excellent host and I can’t tell you how beautiful the property is!!! We enjoyed the beautiful fire place, comfortable bed, and extra touches Michel provided (orange juice, baguette, milk, etc.) I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in ththe Normandy region of France and in particular the American cemetery and landing beaches. They are a quick county road away. I will definitely come back and stay again!!! Merci Michel!!

  • Spacious and lovely traditional house with modern updates

We had a great time in Port en Bessin and the house had plenty of room for our party of 9. The kids loved the attic bedroom and we liked the large dining room table to gather around for dinner and cards at night. Having 3 showers, 2 bathrooms, and a washing machine was also extremely helpful with our large group. There is a large supermarket within a 3 minute drive and a pharmacy and 8 Huit around the corner. Also, we took advantage of the restaurants and fresh fish market in Port en Bessin. The town is very convenient to DDay beaches and only 16 minutes from Bayeux and the tapestry museum. It has a lovely port with all the fishing boats that the kids liked watching and a coastal path to explore. The house has all the pots, pans, dishes, coffee maker, etc that you could want but does not supply any food or condiments, not even salt or pepper. The close proximity to the stores though and very reasonable prices of food in Normandy made this a minor inconvenience. The lack of WiFi is a pain but we tried to look at it as a true vacation from work. The owner is super nice and very responsive to emails. Check in and check out was easy and we got our cash deposit back no problem. The only other things you need to know are that there is a linen and towel rental fee plus a tourist tax which added up to 147 euros for our party of nine (we used all of the available beds including sofas). You need to pay this in cash on arrival. We loved the House d' Augustus in Port en Bessin and would absolutely stay there again if we return to Normandy.
