Lovely and warm on a cold winter days arrival. Beautiful view from the living room window, we sat watching the sky and the stars until it was too dark to see anything. We were coming to town for a medical procedure and wanted to be in a comfortable environment to relax and recover. The owners are kind and hospitable. They welcomed our little dog and she enjoyed their wee terrier as well. I would stay again anytime I visit the area.

  • Totally Delightful!

A friend and I spent three nights at the Post Office apartment in December and loved it! It’s charming, sunny, and delightfully quirky. The owners are very responsive and helpful. They’ve also added some sweet touches, like the bird feeders were all full when we arrived. It was beautiful to watch the cardinals and chickadees and nuthatches (and one big seagull that stood on the deck railing and helped himself!) In the summer, the gardens would be gorgeous. The apartment is decorated with owls (for Owls Head) and post office memorabilia and heart-shaped rocks. They’re everywhere. It was whimsical and fun to keep finding them. The apartment has three floors, all open to the main floor. The stairs to the second floor has an excellent railing on the steps, and the third is accessed with more like a ladder. It felt a bit like the decks of a ship. And the view from the third floor picture window is definitely worth the climb. The small kitchen had everything we needed. Though it was about 10-20 degrees outside each morning, the heat worked well inside and we were never cold on the second or main floor (no one slept on the third floor during our stay, so I can't speak of that). It was a delightful few days. We were sad to leave! The harbor is a five minute walk (the sunrise was gorgeous with sea smoke on the water) and the lighthouse was about the same amount to drive in the car (it was too cold to walk there during our stay). It's really a lovely area. Downstairs is the town's tiny post office and it's only open two hours in the morning and a couple more in the afternoon on the weekdays. We enjoyed watching the people come and go with packages and hearing the very muffled laughter and greetings from below during business hours. It's never intrusive, just charming. I brought my Christmas cards with me and I went down and bought stamps from the friendly post mistress. And across the street is the small village green where the town was having a tree lighting during our stay. We went to the tree lighting and were welcomed warmly by the locals. I remarked to my friend that it felt like finding ourselves in a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie. Totally delightful. Highly recommended.
