  • Quirky little villa with great pool
    5 of 5

Thierry was a great host, he helped us out above and beyond the call of duty. The location of the villa meant that a car was needed, but Thierry kindly picked us up one evening so our driver could have a night off, he also lent us a parasol and cool box for a day trip, as well as many other acts of kindness, nothing was to much trouble. He was also able to give us lots of suggestions for trips out. The villa is quite quirky in its lay out, with the only bathroom being in the main bedroom and the second bedroom being outside on the terrace, but there is a bed settee in the lounge/ kitchen if you have young children. The villa had everything we needed for our stay and was very well presented, with very efficient Air-con. The outside area was lovely, with fantastic views, The pool area is not as private as it looks on the photos as Thierry house is next door with only a partial fence, but they were so discreet that it really wasn’t an issue. We had a lovely stay and would happily rent the property again if we went back to Guadeloupe.

  • Charming house in an amazing location - we loved it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maisonette Tourmaline. The house itself was well equipped and comfortable; the kitchen and living room were all in one large space and we ended up eating dinner here almost every night. The bedroom was comfortable and air conditioned and the bathroom was great and wonderful shower! There were only 2 of us so we did not use the upstairs bedroom / bath, but if another couple were with us, the second bedroom and bath are very private and separate. The location of the house was fantastic - right in the middle of the west coast of Basse Terre - north of us were beautiful beaches and villages (Plage de Tillet, Plage de Grand Anse, Deschais) and south of us was Basse Terre and cute villages one of which is Trois Rivieres where the ferries go to the Terre D'Haut (one of the Saints islands - spectacular). We were also very close to the National Park inland with incredible trails and things to do - we loved the Zoo and the Botanical Garden in Deschais was awesome too! The house is a short walk to Malendure Beach - a lovely black sand beach that is right near the Cousteau reserve - we went there a few times, but preferred the beaches north of us (our personal preference). Emilie Fournier was our caretaker and she was excellent and lovely - she met us at the house and acquainted us with the house and surroundings and helped us to book activities. We speak English and she was so helpful to us. She left us with a welcome booklet (both in French and English) with great resources and information. She also checked up on us and was very responsive - we didn't need much, but when we did, she was great! Malendure is a quaint lovely beach town with great restaurants and there is also a good CarreFour nearby (5 min drive) for groceries - super convenient and great selection of many items. Guadalupe is a beautiful and special place and we look forward to returning! Merci Beaucoup!!
