The Honey Cottage was very well-appointed, with a full kitchen, helpful kitchen appliances, and a generous amount of crockery, glassware, and cooking pans. It made it very easy for us to enjoy some meals "in." The pleasant outdoor patio space was a great place to enjoy a bottle of wine and watch the sun set. Beds were numerous and comfortable; bathrooms were clean and convenient. Wifi enhanced the stay. The owners were welcoming and very helpful. We experienced a little confusion in trying to operate the washing machine, but that was because we were not familiar with the make/model--we sorted it out quickly enough. Great stay, really made our holiday in France perfect for our family of four!
Our week started with a great introduction, tour and briefing on the extremely well equipped and spacious chateau. It has all of the amenities one could ask for. Good high speed wifi, great fireplace, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds. It was a treat having the boulangerie from the next town deliver fresh croissants and a baguette in the morning. (you hang out a bag with your order and money, they leave the goods and change). The grounds are large and well cared for. It is in a quiet area with the only sounds the rushing water of the nearby stream and the faint crowing of a rooster in the morning. Sheep graze in a nearby meadow. We enjoyed traveling into Charleville-Mezzieres for shopping and restaurants. No problems communicating, Verronique and her sister both speak excellent English. Lots of refrigerator space, a small one in the kitchen and a large fridge/freezer in the utility room (where we stored the champagne we bought at a small producer -Carole Noizette in Saint-Thierry). Well stocked with everything-- brochures, a large sewing kit, lots of wine & champagne glasses, etc. We made day trips to Reims, Waterloo, Bastogne, Sedan. We have stayed in a number of rentals both in France and the US and this one ranks among the best.
