We traveled as a family of 6 to visit Tuscany for our 25th Anniversary. Nicoletta greeted us with a smile and could not have been nicer in preparing us for our visit to the area. She had a list of the local fare that she liked and gave us access to her if we had any questions. She was the perfect host in that she pushed nothing on us at all. The pictures are accurate of the apartment. There was plenty of room for our family to spread out as there were truly 4 bedrooms. The only thing that folks should be leery of (which enough of the reviews talked about) is the number of steps up (89 as my kids had fun with that) and parking (which would be a problem anywhere in the city). The only time this was a real issue was getting all of the luggage up and down the stairs. The trade off is you are right in the middle of the city and could not be more central in Sienna. The view from the rooftop was spectacular. In addition, Nicoletta made recommendations and we used one of her recommendations. We had Sylvia take us around for a day in the countryside. We had the opportunity to see crystal glass blowing and Terra Cotta pottery (my wife is a potter) being made in addition to many other things in the day. Sylvia was extremely flexible with us and also very accommodating. We happily stayed in Sienna and debated on whether to stay in Florence. On our one day to Florence, we took the train in which was an easy mile stroll to the train station (as were smartly advised not to drive into Florence). While we enjoyed our day in Florence, we truly appreciated the beauty and central location of Sienna for our family. Nicoletta also has other properties in the city and countryside and we highly recommend working through her with one of her properties if able to. Nicoletta, we thank you for your wonderful hospitality.
We had a very enjoyable stay at Sara’s home in Siena. From the time we first booked our stay with her,Sara was a delight to work with. She was always prompt in replying to any questions we had and kept in touch with us in the few days before our arrival. Great pride in her home was evident as soon as we entered. It is spotlessly clean and well maintained. We stayed four nights and would have loved to have stayed longer. Siena is a beautiful place and we enjoyed walking everywhere to explore its history, restaurants and shops. You can walk to most of he interesting sights in Siena in just a few minutes from Sara’s home.
We cooked two dinners in the small but well-appointed kitchen. Everything worked perfectly in her home and Sara kept in touch with us to be sure we were having a pleasant time, which we were. There are only two minor things which people need to be aware of. One is that there are a lot of stairs in the apartment, as you can in the photos. This caused us no problems, but people with mobility issues should keep this in mind. Second, there is a certain amount of street noise from motor scooters and vehicles. This seems to be the case throughout Siena - it is, after all, on a hill! Our own home is quite quiet and so we perhaps noticed this more than some people would.
We loved our four nights in Siena! We very much hope to return one day and if we do, we would love to stay in Sara’s beautiful home again.
