What a comfortable and amazing house! Everything was spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable, and there were plenty of towels and supplies. We were there in September and had no trouble parking right on the road above the house. The view is truly spectacular. We had a wonderful experience in Cornwall and the house played a big part.
After spending a peaceful week at this lovely house in the Cornwall countryside, we tried to think how our stay could have been made any better, but all we could come up with was planning for a two-week visit next time. The owner describes this property as a "stunning house with wonderful sea views." All of this is true. The house is located in the secluded Cot Valley west of the town of St. Just. It is so secluded, and accessed by a narrow, unpaved road (looks more like a footpath), that many of the local residents we talked with had never heard of it. This means that within a couple of days, you find yourself feeling like a local expert, sharing tips about the Cornwall Coastal Path, and noteworthy village pubs (e.g., "The Tinner's Arms" in nearby Zennor).
Its seclusion also means that after watching the sun set from the outside terrace, you are tempted to just stay "home," relax, and cook a meal. Not a problem - this place is equipped with an "Aga" like Heritage stove, and all the kitchen tools, pots and pans, and dining ware you could ever need. One reviewer even noted that the kitchen had "too much equipment" (not possible in my opinion - I took that as a challenge). It is worth noting that this equipment, as well as all the furnishings throughout the house (furniture, linen, etc.), is not the usual, impersonal VRBO makeover from IKEA, but top quality stuff that makes you feel "at home" in a real house.
We are night sky enthusiasts, and with effort have found some good locations in Arizona and Hawaii. This place has them all beat. While the owner also has a smaller rental cottage next door, it was unoccupied during our stay. This meant that after sunset, the only human evidence visible was a couple of residential lights from farmhouses a quarter of a mile away on the other side of "our" valley. Other than that, we looked straight out into the blackness of the Atlantic Ocean. The night sky was truly impressive.
For people who are seeking privacy, comfort, walking, stargazing and a rural Cornwall experience, look no further.
