We spent three weeks in Penzance at Russell and Maureen's charming, but quirky, 1850 Victorian Row House right on the Penzance Prmenade. It was everything we hoped it would be. We had a late arrival, training down from London after a 7 hour flight from the United States. There was fresh milk, coffee and a saffron raisin cake from Warrens Bakery waiting for us, as well as fresh flowers in the sitting room. The view of Mount's Bay is spectacular. Binoculars and a telescope were provided. We watched fishing boats from Newlyn Harbor. We spotted a seal and watched the swimmers ( YES swimmers!) swim from Newlyn to the Jubilee Pool and then walk back along promenade. The location in Penzance is perfect. A Lion grocery store is two blocks away. For coffee, there is the Zebra Crossing, just around the corner on Morab Street. Further up Morab St is Penlee Park with a marvelous cafe that we highly recommend for breakfast, lunch or just coffee...and dont miss the Penlee Gallery. Lavendars, in Penzance, just around corner from the Morab Gallery has wonderful lunches and pastries , cakes , pies, danish. Warrren's Bakery has several locations in Penzance , along Market Jew Street, and one location in Newlyn. Newlyn is an easy flat walk from Penzance and we must recommend the Duke street Cafe for wonderful sandwiches, salads and baked goods and great coffee and lattes. Mousehole is anothter , relatively, flat walk, following the coastline; it is about 3 miles. Mousehile is a charming little village, not to be missed. Marazion is anothter easy walk, about 3 miles, which takes you to St Michael's Mount. A rare and challenging experience if you choose to hike up to castle, but it is well worth the effort! It is unforgettable. The town of Maraziion is delightful. The walks to Haemore or Madron or even some places in sPenzance are a more hilly. Dont miss the shops along the Causeway in Penzance!! Bus service is very good. We took buses to Zennor ,Lands End, St Ives ,Sennen Cove. and Port Curno. We hiked almost 100 miles along coastal trails...We are in our 70's, so this is not just for the young. Another Penzance restaurant that is top quality and lovely inside is Alverne, across street from Lavendar's. The Dolphin also is a great place for dinner. We had two rainy days and one misty day, two of them cleared by afternoon. Russell was a great host and is very knowledge about the area and Cornwall, in general. We would stay there again!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Net Loft in Mousehole! Cornwall was all that we hoped and more. The Loft was fully equipped, super clean and comfortable. Communication with the property manager was great too. We hope to return one day!!
