  • Love at first sight
    4 of 5

We had the incredible privilege of staying at Prospero's Rest for an entire three weeks, every minute of which we enjoyed immensely! The house has it all: stunning views from the master bedroom, the bay window and the front terrace (watch the sun rise opposite above the harbour!), it is comfortable, peaceful and quiet (well, apart from the seagulls...), cheerful as well as tastefully furnished, well-equipped, clean. The service was excellent (prompt answer to minor problem, John the handyman friendly and efficient, cleaning ladies as well), parking permit for the Tobay area very useful! Parking the car down in the huge car park by the harbour was especially helpful with so many day visitors to lovely Brixham, which we also fell in love with... With so many things to do and see, many walks along the coast or in Dartmoor, lovely cafès, pubs and restaurants nearby, it is difficult to pick out one particular sight - we recommend Coleton Fishacre (Art-Deco mansion with delightful gardens), Afternoon Tea at the Berry Head Hotel (stunning location), the Round Robin tour as a day trip, Haytor Rocks on Dartmoor.... We will definitely come back! Carina and Eberhard from Hannover, Germany

  • Pretty, country property
    4 of 5

The Larches is a pretty country property in a converted outbuilding of Buckland House with access to the surrounding gardens. Furnishings were as advertised and we found the property was clean and equipped with fresh sheets and towels upon arrival. A car is essential and renters should be aware that access to the nearest main road - between Totnes and Kingsbridge - is via four miles of hilly, narrow lanes. In all, we enjoyed our visit and would recommend this property to anyone seeking a quiet spot to spend a week in the South Hams..
