I must start with the fact that I am picky- it's just the way I am built. I like quiet places to stay, I like clean. I like to feel I am comfortable with everything I need to feel "at home" when away. It's easy to stay in a hotel- maid service, predictable rooms. It's riskier to find a good spot that is someone else's home to enjoy.
From the moment I booked this fantastic apartment all was superb. Barbara's communication and follow up- her attention to details. I traveled with my 2 daughters ( 29 and 25) and when we walked into the apartment we fell in love.
The apartment had plenty of room for the three of us- there were 2 bedrooms with room to spread out ( unlike the last time in Paris in a hotel I couldn't turn around without tripping over items). There were 2 bathrooms- one larger than the other which the girls used and I the small.
The decorations were so perfectly French- I grew to love the antiques, the French framed posters, the beautiful dishes to use, the Art deco style of the place. Every morning I would wake up early , make a coffee, and head to the patio. THE PATIO. It is the most wonderful spot to sit and listen to the city, the beautiful pots with flowers ( perfectly done again and I am an avid gardener). We sat outside and shared meals, wine, coffee, and read and relaxed. HEAVEN.
The peace and quiet for a city apartment was amazing- not a peep of noise laying in bed at night with the windows open. LOVED the windows too- beautiful.
The area is perfect - we walked to the bakery every morning and got croissants and other items. There are several spots to eat close by- loved Chez Janou. Had the most amazing baked mussels. 2 grocery stores in the same block.
I could go on and on but will stop-there are two words to sum it all up- "just go". Go to Paris, stay in this incredible spot and enjoy a week like no other. Barbara thank you for opening your special home to us- I am already dreaming of a trip next year.
My husband and I and a friend stayed in this charming apartment for five nights in early September. It was perfectly situated for two couples with a bedroom/bath located at either end of the apt. While we didn't do any major cooking, we did bring in charcuterie for dinner for two evenings and the kitchen was well equipped to handle simple preparations. What we enjoyed most was the location- several bakeries/ grocery stores close by as well as neighborhood restaurants. The upper 3rd is somewhat less touristy than the 4th and one gets the sense that this is a neighborhood where French people live and work- just what we wanted! In addition to the recommendations provided by Cheryl and Pam, check out Paris by Mouth for additional restaurants, bars, stores etc. Lots to choose from.
