  • Excellent location and attentive host

We were two families sharing the house - 3 kids and 4 adults. The location is absolutely stunning, and we loved every minute of our stay. Although you are in a middle of an area of holiday flats, it feels like you are on your own, with the best sea view and a large stone terrace from where you can enjoy wonderful sunsets. You can swim right in front of the house (if you wear bathing shoes), and there is a beautiful beach 1 km away (at the end of wich, by the port, you find a bakery, shop, wineshop and a nice restaurant, among other things). The best place to swim, in our view, was on the peninsula at the other end of the beach, which is a nature reserve and has the most wonderful cliffs and rock formations, as well as small sandy beaches and clear waters. Great for a family of free divers like ours. The peninsula also had wonderful running tracks. The house is well situated for exploring the surrounding towns as well. The decor of the house has that shabby beach chic feel, that seems haphazard but has been put together by someone with a great sense of style. I especially liked the lighting on the terrace by night, with a string of bulbs with straw shades, giving off a soft light in the evenings, as well as all the cushions in the seating area of the terrace, which made for comfortable evenings. The kitchen is well stocked, but I missed cutting knifes. There was bread knife and steak knifes, and that was it. Probably just an oversight, that is easily fixed by the owner - with whom we had excellent communication. I would say, though, that it is wrong to advertise this house as having 9 beds. There are two bedrooms, 1 with a double bed and 1 with a double bed and a bunk bed, as well as two mattresses in an open loft above the living room - all comfortable. The 9th bed, however, was in what is no more than a shed, outside the house - too hot, moldy and ant infested to sleep in. All in all, this is a great house.

If you want to be in the center of the action and surrounded by tourism cliches this is the last place for you. But imagine stepping back in time to the 15th century in an authentic and private villa waking to the sounds of the birds of prey and the church bells from the same period cathedral which is a 100 meter walk away. TIme stands still here. The locals and tourists meld in a comfortable way that my wife and I have never experienced in our vast travels. This is a Corsican experience that should not be missed. Amazing value, culture galore, a hospitable host, and breath taking views. You will need a rental car to enjoy the spectacular beaches and nearby restaurants. If you want a guaranted experience of this nature this is your sure thing. Happy travels!
