Most of the reviews speak of Chef Maria and her staff - let me just say that Maria and her staff are AMAZING! If you rent Casa Tortuga and you don't utilize her cooking services, you are truly missing out. Anytime we ate out in San Pedro, we would find good food, but it wasn't as good as Maria's. Maria takes great pride in her meals, and it shows. We traveled with 13 adults, age ranges late 30's to early 50's, primarily couples. I read every review on multiple sites prior to our trip regarding Casa Tortuga. The few reviews that had something negative to say are unfair in my opinion. We all found the house and grounds incredible. The decorations, and antiques really set this house apart. After traveling around San Pedro for a week, I didn't see another house that I wished we had stayed at. There is ample room to get privacy from your group as well. We did encounter sea grass at the beach area, but its a natural thing that all of the caribbean is dealing with seasonally. Outside the house, the sea grass does have a slight odor that you notice first thing in the morning, but typically within a few minutes you don't notice it any longer. The air conditioning worked great when we needed it at night, and the breezes off the ocean kept you comfortable all day. I witnessed two things that really told me a lot about this property and its staff. The first one occurred when all 13 of us left for the day. When we returned, one of the bedrooms was locked up and some of our groups phones were missing that they had left by the pool. After a couple minutes, we realized that Maria had seen the phones and placed them in one of the rooms and locked them up for safe keeping. The second thing that really impressed me was that the staff swept and mopped all floors - including around the pool, and raked the sand to remove palm tree debris, daily. They take great pride in their work, and they clean every room and outside every day. The really interesting part was that you rarely saw anyone doing these things, they were awesome at being hidden. Lastly, the location is excellent. You are a safe, short golf cart ride to town, you are on the ocean side which helped with breezes, and the mosquitos were not as bad as they were on the other side of the island. Just bring plenty of Off and you will be fine. Peggy - you are truly blessed with this house! You are awesome to work with, fantastic communication. We can't wait to return one day.

I spent a week here at Slo-N-EZ. It is tucked away at the end of a quiet residential street and opens up in the front to an awesome water view, with dock access for water activity. This unit has two bedrooms tactfully decorated and comfortable beds. Our linens were changed mid week which was nice. A full kitchen made it easy to prepare food from a grocery in the neighborhood and several others close by. There are bikes to use or the walk into the village is only one mile and a little, so an easy stroll, with several delicious choices of restaurants and cafes. Ela and Jerry were so great in welcoming me and my daughter to thier place, and with using the washer :) which is a huge plus when visiting Belize! The wifi was excellent. All in all, my experience at this house was just what I needed for a relaxing exploration of Caye Caulker. Thanks you two and Ami also!!!
