As kids go back to school around the country, travelers can find great deals and destinations. September ushers in the “shoulder season” for many places—a great time to take one more late summer trip and welcome fall at festivals and famous sites all around the country.

    St. Louis, Missouri

    One of the coolest things about September in St. Louis is the Great Forest Park Balloon Race , where more than 60 hot air balloons are released into the air. Also be sure to check out the Gateway Arch, symbolic of the city and the Saint Louis Zoo, one of the top five zoos in the nation.
