Whether you want to sit on the sand, explore natural wonders, or take in some big city fun, here's our round-up of the places that are at their best this month.
1. San Diego, California
The sunny beaches of Southern California are a great place to visit in June. The temperatures are comfortable, and the crowds have not yet hit their peak. San Diego is the perfect family destination. Check out the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld and Legoland.
2. Yellowstone National Park
The crowds don’t hit this park in full force until later in the summer, but the days are warming up, nature is abundant and beautiful. You’ll want to explore famous sights like Old Faithful, and spend your days hiking and exploring.
3. Vancouver, BC, Canada
This Canadian city sees plenty of rain, but in June things start to dry up and the sun shines a good portion of the time. Because you aren’t completely into the dry season, you will find attractions less crowded and prices a bit lower.
4. The French Riviera, France
The crowds will get thick here later in the summer, especially August, but in June you will find the French Riviera less busy. Join the rich and famous and rub elbows with stars in this jet-setter vacation favorite. This is a great time and place for a romantic trip for two.
5. London, England
The famed sights and sounds of London land this city on any list of the 10 Best June Vacations. With long, warm days to enjoy and plenty of festivals and events, there is never a dull moment this month in the shadow of Big Ben. Trooping the Colour is a must-see June event - this celebration of the Queen’s birthday is a true pageant of military pride.
6. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
June is a good time to enjoy a Mexican vacation at a lower price. With the peak season at an end but the low season not quite set in, you can expect nice weather and great travel deals. The famous beaches of Puerto Vallarta make a wonderful romantic getaway, but they are also a lot of fun for families.
7. New York City, New York
June is a great time to pay a visit to the Big Apple. The weather is warm but the real summer heat and humidity haven’t hit yet, so you can spend plenty of time outside walking through Times Square and Central Park. A romantic date may mean an outdoor summer concert or Shakespeare in the Park. There are many free performances available to June visitors in the city.
8. Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada
The Canadian side of the famous Falls is a site to behold any time of year, but June is a great time to avoid the crowds that flock here later in the summer. Take a ride on the Maid of the Mist to get a better look at the Falls, or if you want a truly unforgettable experience, consider taking a helicopter ride over the water.
9. Anchorage, Alaska
Alaska is under-appreciated as a destination, but there is no question it is one of the 10 best June vacations. Alaska in June offers stunning views and amazing wildlife through long summer days. The long winter is over, and in some parts of the state the sun doesn’t set at all on the solstice, making this a June vacation to remember.
10. Dallas, Texas
June is one of the most affordable times to visit this Texas city, and there is a lot to do for all ages. You can stroll the Art District, feast on fine dining, or explore one of the many festivals. If you can’t wait for the real summer heat to set in, you’ll find it in Texas!
