Move over, Miami. Take a hike, Hamptons. HomeAway®, the world leader in vacation rentals, combed its data to reveal Oklahoma’s Broken Bow Lake, Iowa’s Spirit Lake and Texas’ Hill Country as fast-growing, surprising destinations for Americans vacationing domestically.

Kidpinions

It's official: kids are increasingly speaking up and having a say on where their families go on vacation. HomeAway's Kidpinions survey is a one-of-a-kind travel survey that asks hundreds of parents and kids from across the country about their family vacation planning and habits: who calls the shots, where to go, whom to travel with and what type of accommodation to stay in. Disney's "Beauty and the Beast"

In celebration of the 2017 live-action remake of the classic fairytale "Beauty and the Beast," HomeAway teamed up with Disney to give one winner plus 20 of his or her friends the chance to win an all-expenses-paid stay for five nights in a 14th century Scottish castle.

Castle Collection

The HomeAway Castle Collection was created in honor of Disney’s release of the live-action remake of "Beauty and the Beast" in 2017. This curated collection includes 20 fairytale-like vacation properties available to rent in seven countries around the world, showcasing just a few of the over 900 castles available on HomeAway.

Science of Memories Study

HomeAway partnered with Professor Art Markman and researchers at the University of Texas to design a first-of-its-kind study which investigated factors such as destination type, cost of vacation, group type, work habits, amount of time spent on mobile devices, and social media use to determine their impact on the memorability of vacations. Research show Americans will head for the hills for vacation in 2017, driving longer distances to spend more time at increasingly private accommodations. Such (in a nutshell) are findings highlighted in the first-ever HomeAway® 2017 Trend Report, which uncovers emerging vacation trends via data from independent research and the world leader in vacation rentals.

Eiffel Tower All Yours

In 2016, HomeAway let a few lucky travelers spend the night in the world's most iconic landmark for the first time in history. With its #EiffelTowerAllYours global contest, HomeAway built an apartment inside the Eiffel Tower and gave families from four countries the chance to sleep in the Eiffel Tower, while allowing thousands of people from around the globe to visit the exclusive HomeAway Eiffel Tower Apartment virtually and in person.

It's Your Vacation. Why Share It?

Launched in January 2016, HomeAway’s “It’s Your Vacation, Why Share It?” campaign directed by comedy duo Tim & Eric and voiced by actor Nick Offerman highlights why enjoying whole vacation homes with loved ones is better than shared spaces with strangers.
