Vrbo Reveals Top Value Travel Destinations in "Bang for Your Buck Index"

AUSTIN, Texas, Apr. 22, 2019 -- Getting away from it all doesn’t have to mean spending it all. Vrbo® – the website where you can rent vacation homes, cabins and condos – is helping travelers identify the most cost-effective destinations with its first-ever Bang for Your Buck Index, based on average nightly rates for vacation homes domestic and international. Arriving just in time for summer travel season, the index is based on 2018 Vrbo pricing data.

”We already know families and groups of friends appreciate the value of renting a vacation home, but travelers want to know exactly where they can get the most for their money. So we dug into the Vrbo data to find out where homeowners are renting places out to others for the lowest average cost per night,” said Vrbo travel expert Melanie Fish. ”Our Bang for Your Buck Index takes care of the price comparisons so you can spend less time planning and more time making memories.”

Vrbo’s Bang for your Buck Index identifies the destinations with the lowest average cost per night – vacation homes that cost less than $250 per night but offer prime features like proximity to beaches, a variety of dining options, ready access to outdoor recreation and more.

Domestically, five popular Florida locales rank among the top 10 most value-packed destinations. Internationally, the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) revealed surprising value.
