HomeAway unveils new features for vacation rental owners and property managers

Program updates and new products aimed to help HomeAway partners boost their business

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 16, 2018 – At its annual Partner Summit on November 11 and 12, HomeAway® presented industry insights and trends, as well as program updates and new product offerings that will help its Partners to achieve more bookings and create unforgettable stays for their guests.

More than 600 vacation rental owner and property manager Partners gathered in Austin, Texas on Sunday and Monday to network with their peers and meet face-to-face with HomeAway leadership, product development, and customer support staff to learn how they can optimize their efforts to get the most return on investment in time and money for their vacation rental.

Three key takeaways from the Summit include:

Premier Partner Program Changes

The Premier Partner program launched one year ago as a reward for HomeAway partners who are committed to delivering the best experiences for their guests.

At Summit, HomeAway shared the criteria for the Premier Partner program so that partners understand exactly how to qualify for the program, including how they should honor bookings, provide a great stay experience, and receive positive reviews from their guests.

In addition to sharing how to qualify for the program, HomeAway announced it has revised the standards of where the Premier Partner badge displays to be solely on individual properties of a Premier Partner. Previously all of a Premier Partner’s property listing pages would display the badge, but now listings that are below the quality requirements for the program will not receive the badge.  Premier Partners will continue to have access to the program benefits, including priority customer support, additional chances to be featured in HomeAway marketing, and beta testing of new products.  Detailed information about the Premier Partner program can be found on the HomeAway Discovery Hub.

Introducing Boost!

The most notable announcement from Summit is the launch of Boost, a program for HomeAway Premier Partners to improve their listing’s position for more visibility in search results. Boost grants partners “power-ups” that accumulate as bookings are accepted and guests complete their stay at a property. Partners choose to use their “power-ups” to boost their property’s search position. The program is perfect for partners who need to fill their calendar, such as during shoulder season or offseason.

During Summit HomeAway announced that all attendees were exclusively invited to participate in the beta program.  In the near future, Boost will be available to all qualifying Premier Partners.

Virtual Tours for Vacation Rentals

Partners were given an in-depth look into a proprietary new product that allows the addition of virtual tours to property listing pages. The feature acts as a supplement to a property’s photos to give travelers the opportunity to take a 360-degree walk-through tour of a vacation rental property.  Partners can add a virtual tour to their HomeAway property by submitting photos from their own phones or cameras or enlist the professional services of a third-party company.

A beta test of Virtual tours is live in several markets in the U.S. and Summit attendees were given the opportunity to sign up to create virtual tours of their properties.  More information on the launch of virtual tours can be read on its comprehensive press release.
