Ski Vacation Home Rental Data Reveals

Avalanche of Early Fall Bookings

AUSTIN, Texas, October 2, 2017 – October starts a freestyle frenzy for chalets, cabins and slope-slide retreats as travelers rush to book limited ski getaway accommodations. According to vacation rental booking data released by Homeaway.com, Oct. 3 and 26 were among the busiest ski getaway booking days on the site last year.[i] What’s more, 50 percent of all in-season ski rentals booked on HomeAway were snapped up by December.[ii]

Among the findings from HomeAway’s ski destination data:

“Ski properties have historically been among the strongest vacation home rental categories, offering a potent combination of convenience, spaciousness, flexibility and value especially for groups and families,” said Melanie Fish, family travel expert at HomeAway. “The challenge for travelers is that there's a limited number of ski homes to rent, so planning ahead is necessary. With snow already falling and forecasters predicting normal to above normal snowfall for the season, every indication is that last year’s preseason booking performance is poised to repeat, if not pick up steam.”
