Moody Beach has a humid continental climate with warm to hot and humid summers as well as severely cold winters. There are also beautiful fall and spring months when the temperatures are mild as the seasons transition. In the summer months, temperatures often average in the 80s, and 90-degree days are common from time to time. Average lows during the winter months may be in the teens or single digits, and zero-degree or sub-zero temperatures are common during extreme weather conditions. The area receives ample rainfall during the warm weather season because of the location on the coast, and it also receives ample snowfall because of nor'easters that pass through the area in the winter months.
Wells and Moody Beach are located approximately a one to a one and a half hour's drive south of Portland, Maine. This is the closest major city to the area, so many who make the decision to travel into Moody Beach will drive or fly into Portland. If you fly, you can rent a car to travel the rest of the way into Moody Beach on your own. From Portland, you and travel south along Interstate 95 or Highway 1 until you reach the Wells area.
