Colorado's Front Range offers a wealth of outdoor activities, major sporting events and rich, varied nightlife options surrounded by the stunning Rocky Mountains. There are so many things to do that most people prefer to stay for an extended period when visiting. Renting a vacation house may give people greater flexibility and homelike comforts for their Colorado Front Range stay.
One of the most beautiful natural areas of the Front Range is the Cache La Poudre River Canyon. The river runs parallel to Highway 14 through the narrow canyon, which rises in elevation from 5,000 feet to 10,000 feet. There are many outdoor activities available for visitors, including hiking along one of the numerous trails, river-rafting, inner-tubing, fishing, kayaking, snowshoeing and more. The drive along Highway 14 is also one of unparalleled scenic beauty to enjoy.
Denver has a long history with beer-brewing and entertainment. The nightlife options are almost unlimited, with the city dotted with saloons and bars. The Lower Downtown area, called LoDo, sports some trendy clubs and sports bars. Many of the bars offer select, locally brewed offerings from one of the numerous local breweries. Restaurants in Denver are available to suit almost any palate. While the city offers everything from western cuisine to Thai, Vietnamese, Italian and many others, people should try some local favorites as well. Denver is home to such things as pizza made with honey-flavored crusts, roasted green chiles and some terrific Mexican food. Something to try is a cheeseburger with fresh roasted green chiles blended right into the melted cheese.
Coloradoans love their Denver Broncos with fanaticism. Football fans should try to make a visit to Mile High Stadium to see a game. People line up hours before the game begins for tailgate parties in the parking lots around the stadium. There will be a sea of people wearing their orange and blue jerseys actively celebrating and socializing together. Mile High Stadium is located right along I-25 in downtown Denver, making it very easy to find. Because tickets sell out quickly, it is best to purchase them far in advance. The stadium is also very close to many other entertainment options downtown.
In downtown Denver, people can find the 17th Street Mall. This is a large outdoor mall that stretches for multiple blocks. The entire area is blocked off from traffic, allowing pedestrians to freely stroll along from store to store. In addition to boutiques, there are also a number of restaurants and pubs where people can relax.
The Front Range experiences cold temperatures in the winter and warm temperatures in the summer. People can expect average lows in January of 15 degrees and average highs in July of 86 degrees in Denver. Locations at higher elevations, such as Boulder, have lower average temperatures that can be expected to be about 10 degrees or more lower than those in Denver.
A majority of visitors fly into Denver International Airport (DEN) when they travel to the Front Range. Getting from the airport to the desired location is relatively simple. People can ride the Skyride bus from the airport into Denver. There are also shuttles available from the airport to various other Front Range locations. Taxis are also an option. People can also drive to the Front Range via I-25 or I-70. Finally, rental cars are available at the airport as well.
