Boca Grande is the perfect destination to head to when you want to get away from it all. This coastal community is situated on a barrier island with the Gulf of Mexico at one side and Gasparilla Sound on the other side. Long and narrow, you can enjoy great beach views from most locations of the island. From your Boca Grande beach house, you may be located right on the beach or within walking distance, and you may also enjoy amenities like a patio or balcony, private parking, a large living area and bedrooms and more.
The Boca Grande area may be located a short drive from Fort Myers, but it feels like you are far from the cares of daily life when you are on vacation here. The highlight of your days in Boca Grande will be spending time playing or lounging around outdoors at the beach. From sunbathing to body surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking and more, there is plenty to keep you and your family entertained while you are playing in Boca Grande.
Some people love to shop while on vacation, and you will find several small gift and souvenir shops located in Boca Grande that you can explore close to your vacation rental house. If you want to enjoy additional shopping opportunities, you can head to other communities nearby along the coast, such as Captiva Island, Placida, Cape Haze, Rotonda West and more. Fort Myers is also home to many outlet and shopping malls for you to explore.
Dining out while you are on vacation is always a true treat, and this is because it can be relaxing to unwind with cocktails after playing at the beach all day while someone else does the cooking for you. While Boca Grande is a small, quiet community, there are several great dining options in the area that you can choose to enjoy while you are on vacation. For example, South Beach is located at the southern tip of the island close to the famous lighthouse. Eagle Grille is located in the eastern-central region of the island close to Whidden's Marina. Temptation, Pink Elephant, Loose Caboose, Third Street Cafe and PJ's Seagrille offer additional options for you to choose from close to the main downtown area of Boca Grande.
The climate in Boca Grande can be undeniably amazing throughout most of the year, and this is because of the southern location of the area as well as the coastal influences from the Gulf of Mexico. Boca Grande has a humid subtropical climate, which yields long, warm or even hot summer days with highs in the 80s, 90s or 100s. It also yields a short summer season with mild days and highs in the 70s or 80s most days. It rarely freezes in the Boca Grande area, and rainfall is common throughout the year. The wettest season comes at the middle to the end of the summer because of hurricane season.
Some people will drive their own car into the Boca Grande area, and others will take a bus, train or plane into the Tampa Bay area and then rent a car to travel the remaining distance on their own. Regardless of how you get to the Tampa Bay area, you can take Interstate 75 south Route 776. Follow Route 776 south until you reach Gasparillo Road. This road takes you over the causeway and onto the island. This trip can take several hours, but you can stop along the way to enjoy dining and shopping opportunities to make the experience more enjoyable.
