Make Yourself at Home in a Florissant Vacation Rental

Adventure abounds in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and now is the right time to start planning your magical mountain getaway. Florissant is just one of many mountain communities that you could visit while in the Rockies, but this is the ideal vacation destination for those who want to be close to a wide range of activities and attractions. The best home away from home to consider in Florissant is a vacation rental home, and there are several beautiful options to choose from. Unlike a hotel room, a Florissant vacation home may provide you with private bedrooms, large living areas, a dedicated parking area, mountain views, a kitchen and other homelike comforts that you will love on your vacation.

Outdoor Recreation

There are some truly beautiful outdoor destinations located close to Florissant that you will want to explore while you are in the area. For example, from your home away from home in south-central Colorado, you will be close to the Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George, Saddle Mountain, Pike's Peak and Mueller State Park. Each of these and other venues may be ideal for hiking, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, horseback riding and a host of other outdoor recreational activities.

Florissant is perhaps best known for its location close to Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, which is one of the top attractions in the area. From your Manitou Springs or Florissant vacation home, you will also be close to other popular attractions, including the Florissant Fossil Quarry and the Pikes Peak Historical Society Museum. In nearby towns, you will also find the Old Homestead House Museum, the Cripple Creek and Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad, the Outlaw and Lawmen Jail Museum and other attractions.

Florissant is not a town that is known for its incredible nightlife, but there are some great restaurants in the community and some wonderful nightspots that you can explore just outside of the town. For example, in Florissant, you can enjoy restaurants like Lake George Pizza and the Costello Street Coffee House. In nearby Cripple Creek, there are more than a half dozen casinos where you can live it up at night, and some of these include the Casino at the Double Eagle Hotel, the Wildwood Casino, the Brass Ass Casino, Bronco Billy's Casino and others.

Florissant is located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with an elevation of 8,200 feet above sea level. This is a moderate elevation, and there are many areas near it with an elevation that is both significantly higher and lower than the town. Weather conditions can change drastically as you travel to different elevations, and with this in mind, it is smart to dress in layers regardless of the season when you travel to Colorado. Remember that in the town, the temperature in the summer may be in the 70s or 80s for highs, but in the winter, highs may be in the 30s or lower. Snowfall is common in this area during the winter months.

How to Get There

If you plan to travel to Florissant, you may be wondering what the easiest way to get to the town is. It is common to fly into the Denver area and to rent a car, or you can drive your own car to Denver. Once you are in Denver, you can travel south along Interstate 25 to Colorado Springs. In Colorado Springs, take Highway 24 west until you reach Florissant. This is a rather lengthy road trip, but it is very scenic and enjoyable.
