The neighboring park is popular in summer thanks to its splash pad.

Temperatures can climb into the 80s and 90s throughout the summer months until well into September. In July, Florence plays host to the W C Handy Music Festival a celebration of jazz, RnB, rock, pop and gospel. Then, come September, the North Alabama State Fair is held at the North Alabama State Fairgrounds in Muscle Shoals. Lakes and trails by Wilson Lake

To the east of Wilson Lake on the other side of the Wheeler Dam, Wheeler Lake offers more fishing, boating and birdwatching opportunities as well as a small beach. You can hire paddle boats and small motorized craft at the Joe Wheeler State Park, a welcoming green space that straddles the lake and boasts modern fishing piers, beautiful views and its own public golf course. Hikers and bikers can head south to Bankhead National Forest, around 40 minutes away from a Wilson Lake vacation rental.
