They say it's the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean

Marigot Bay is not only a Caribbean heaven, it's also a haven from hurricanes. Surrounded by steep hills on 3 sides and an inlet that opens to the sea, this area is what proud St. Lucians call the Caribbean's most beautiful bay. And it really is gorgeous... not that they're biased. St. Lucia's part of the lesser Antilles, and was founded by a French pirate in the 1500s. Legend has it he was just looking for some R&R. Marigot Bay vacation rentals are close to the capital Castries, and the spectacular mountainous scenery of the southern Soufriere region.

Marigot Bay has a mountain of activities

Marigot Bay is mountainous, so hike around for your fill of magnificent Caribbean views that'll make you sad to go back to the mainland. The scenery extends below sea level too; grab some snorkel gear to explore the reefs. Many restaurants are bayside and feature St. Lucia's fusion cuisine, a tasty mix of Caribbean, Creole, and French. Catch your own fish and then a cricket game, or zipline through 1 of the island's rainforests. If you're here in May, jam out at the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival Held in early May.

A drive-in volcano with a side of mineral springs

This island has so much cool sightseeing, starting with its green peaks that soar upward from the deep blue sea. Northward of Marigot Bay vacation rentals you have Pigeon Island National Park, with an old military base and of course, more awesome views. Cruise into the capital of Castries and go all in at Treasure Bay Casino. If you steer 20 miles south, the Soufriere region has the Diamond Botanical Gardens, the Piton mountains' twin peaks, and Sulphur Springs, which is a drive-in volcano you'll simply love. And Soufriere's Mineral Springs are worth a dip or two.

You can thank the Equator for the year-round roast

What you won't have to worry about here is cold weather, chilly water or, if you recall, hurricanes. Just follow your mom's advice and pack sun protection. Marigot Bay vacation rentals are close to the equator and it's hot year-round, with average temps in the 80s. The sea water is blissfully warm, ranging from 79 to 85 degrees all year. The area's most popular time for travelers is January through April, and rain tends to fall between June and November. The latter is also the hotter part of the year, with temps increasing to the 90s.

You'll be sittin' on the dock of the bay...

If you picked Marigot Bay, you got the best side of St. Lucia. This bay is a sheltered area with lush mountainous terrain and sapphire-blue water. St. Lucia's tallest peak is Mount Gimie, at 3,120 feet, and then you have the dramatic twin peaks of the Pitons. And did we mention the drive-in volcano? Don't miss that little geographic wonder. Much of the island is covered in rainforest, so there's lots of wildlife, both on land and, of course, under water. You'll probably end up feeding one of St. Lucia's bullfinches; these red-breasted black birds love a treat.
