A place to enjoy Paris without the premium price tag

This southeastern suburb is packed with small parks, quaint streets, cute little cafes and, as its name implies, houses that are too charming to be true. Maisons-Alfort is just south of the 12th and 13th arrondissements (districts) of Paris proper, and is home to a couple of universities. If you want to avoid the pricey crowded hotels of downtown Paris, Maisons-Alfort vacation rentals are perfect. You're close to all the amazing attractions, shops, and restaurants, and without the premium-priced accommodations, you'll have more money to do it all.

Parks, a fun nightlife, and Paris a train ride away

Where there's a university, there's a nightlife, and with most Maisons-Alfort vacation rentals, you'll be near a bar or club, and probably some French and Asian restaurants too. It's also quite easy to hop on a train and head into the City of Lights. Paris sure knows how to fancy up their suburbs. Scattered throughout are public green spaces that include gardens, a riverside skate park, landscaped areas, flowerbeds, and a pedestrian path at the Marne River. About a mile south of Maisons-Alfort is Lake Creteil, which has a large mall and an amusement park.

Lots of museums to muse upon in Maisons-Alforts

Maisons-Alfort might be a suburb but it still has a couple of cool museums. Fragonard Museum has interesting displays of anatomical oddities, and there's a history musuem in the 18th-century Chateau de Reghat. Nearby in the 12th is Chateau de Vincennes, which used to house the Kings of France, and the massive public park of Bois de Vincennes. You're about 7 miles from the Catacombs of Paris, 18 miles from the Palace of Versailles and 22 miles from Disneyland Paris.

No extreme weather, just beautiful lights and lotsa crowds

Paris is largely free of weather extremes, so you get summers in the 70s and winters in the 30s. About 30 million people visit Paris each year, so the not-so-great news is that there's not much of an off-season. But the amount of travelers peaks slightly from April to September, and also during Christmas, as Paris is the City of Lights and they look pretty amazing during the holidays. If you're booking Maisons-Alfort vacation rentals in the winter, it might quickly snow, then quickly melt. Rain falls in average amounts throughout each season.

What would Paris be without these beautiful parks to see?

This is a major metropolitan area, so your best bet for wildlife watching is probably the nearby Parc Zoologique or Jardin des Plantes and Menagerie. Paris is divided into the left and right banks of the mighty Seine River. Maisons-Alfort is just south of the right bank, and the major boulevard that separates Paris proper from the suburbs. Like most of Paris, this is a flat area with many green spaces and trees, such as beeches and oaks. The Marne River forms the north border of Maisons-Alfort, and there are several parks and paths where you can enjoy the riverfront.
